We are excited to announce the first ever Illinois Soybean Association Student Research Poster Competition! The competition will take place at our 2023 Soybean Summit on February 2 at the I Hotel in Champaign, IL (1900 S 1st St, Champaign, IL 61820). Funded by the Illinois Soybean Association checkoff program, the ILSoyAdvisor Soybean Summit provides a fantastic lineup of expert speakers sharing the latest in soybean agronomy, sustainable production, and agribusiness management.

The research poster competition is open to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as postdocs, who are conducting research related to soybeans in Illinois. The research does not have to be funded by ISA for students to enter the competition. Cash awards will be given to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

Students and postdocs interested in entering a poster into the competition should register by 4 pm on Friday, December 2nd at the following link: https://form.123formbuilder.com/6290818/form. When registering, please have a poster title and abstract (max 300 words) prepared to describe the research.

Expectations

  • Students should have their poster in place at the I Hotel in Champaign by 10:30 am at the latest on February 2, 2023, but they are encouraged to attend for the entire Soybean Summit.
  • Students will be asked to stand by their posters during two breaks throughout the day (at 10:40-11:10 am and 2:35-3:05 pm) to interact with farmers and ag industry professionals attending the event. We expect a crowd of 200-300 at this event, so it will be great networking experience!
  • The competition will take place from 4-5 pm. Students again will be asked to stand at their poster while judges and attendees circulate the room. Winners of the poster competition will be announced at 5 pm.

Our team is very excited to offer this opportunity for students to gain experience sharing their research with farmer audiences, and for our Illinois farmers to become more informed of the research conducted in Illinois! Please share this opportunity with any students you are aware of who may be interested in submitting a poster. If you have any questions, please reach out to me and I’ll be happy to help.
