Plant & Soil Health – Availability of Phosphorus in Manure Applications to Soil

The total phosphorus content in manure varies depending on the animal species, age, diet, and how the manure has been stored. Concentration of phosphorus in some manures may be up to 80 to 90 lbs P2O5 per ton (some poultry manures, for example), whereas other manure may contain as little as 4 lbs P2O5 per ton.
