Yield Challenge

Official Rules

Any Illinois soybean producer (owner-operator, tenant or tenant landlord) who produces soybeans in Illinois is eligible to enter. A single farm enterprise may register more than one entry per crop district. Each entry must be registered independently. The farm enterprise with more than one entry per crop district will only be eligible to receive one award per crop district entered. If multiple producers under the same farm enterprise enter, only one award will be given per farm enterprise.

There are no restrictions on management practices applied however genetic (variety) comparisons aren’t allowed. ISA reviews intentions and determines eligibility of all entries.

If you plan to compete, fill out the interest form below. There is no entry fee associated with the contest. ALL entries must be verified by an official ISA Yield Challenge Verifier. You must work with your verifier to have your final harvest form return to yieldchallenge@ilsoy.org by November 15.

The field entered must be one continuous area.

The total field area must be larger than the harvest area. A minimum of 2 acres must be harvested per plot. The plot length and width will be physical measured by an official ISA Yield Challenge verifier. Plot width will be measured from the first harvested row on the left to the first unharvested row on the right (to assure that inclusions of the of the equivalent of on-half the average row width beyond the outside harvested row one each side).

All measurements will be made with a steel or fiberglass tape or measuring wheel and recorded in feet. Each measurement must be submitted on the Harvest Entry Form. If a whole field is harvested and entered in the challenge (and due to the irregular shapes and dimensions of whole fields), the acreage determination for the whole field will be accepted from the County FSA Office as determined from official USDA aerial photographs.

The original scale ticket must be submitted with the Harvest Entry Form and signed by the official ISA Yield Challenge verifier. The ISA Yield Challenge Verifier will also work with you to fill out the management practices on the Yield Challenge Harvest Entry Form. In order to remain eligible for the challenge, all management practices for the harvested area must be recorded on the Yield Challenge Entry Form.

All submissions must be submitted utilizing the Harvest Entry Form (downloadable PDF or online entry form) by November 15. The entry form will not be accepted without the signed copy of the certified scale ticket or if management practices are missing.
